Product Overview:
Gabica is a prescription-only medication containing 75 mg of pregabalin, a GABA-analogue anticonvulsant developed by Getz Pharma. It is available in multiple strengths (50 mg, 75 mg, 100 mg, 150 mg, 300 mg)
Mechanism of Action:
Pregabalin binds to the α₂δ subunit of voltage‑gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, reducing neurotransmitter release and dampening neuronal excitability.
Indications:
Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy or spinal cord injury
Postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain following shingles)
Adjunctive treatment of partial‑onset seizures in adults
Fibromyalgia
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in adults
Restless‑leg syndrome (in some contexts)
Dosage & Administration:
Typical adult starting dose: 75–150 mg per day, in two or three divided doses; may increase based on response and tolerability; maximum daily dose up to 600 mg.
Dose adjustments are required for patients with renal impairment, as pregabalin is primarily excreted unchanged in urine. Discontinuation should be gradual, over at least one week.
Common Side Effects:
Drowsiness, dizziness, somnolence
Peripheral edema (swelling of hands/feet)
Weight gain, increased appetite
Dry mouth, constipation, nausea, gastrointestinal upset
Blurry vision, tremor, confusion, fatigue, memory or concentration impairment
In rare cases: angioedema, mood changes, renal dysfunction.
Warnings & Precautions:
Monitor for suicidal ideation or mood changes—pregabalin has been associated with increased risk.
Avoid abrupt cessation—withdrawal symptoms or seizure worsening may occur.
Exercise caution if used with other CNS depressants (e.g., opioids, alcohol) due to risk of respiratory depression.
Pregabalin should not be used by individuals with known hypersensitivity to the drug or those with significant heart failure without careful medical supervision.
